Like hand squeezed orange juice, experimental typography requires every ounce of creativity you have.

2021 | TYPOGRAPHY | PHOTOGRAPHY

The purpose of this project was to expand my typographic range. I chose the color orange as my subject and designed a series of nine posters that represented the color orange. I researched pop culture, sports, foods, seasons, etc. to find my words and then began creating the typefaces by hand. I pushed the boundaries as much as possible by using different materials and making my own materials. I manipulated foods, fabrics, fire, yarn, clay, and more. Once I found a technique that started working, I pushed it further and further to see how far I could go with my manipulations before the type became illegible. Once I couldn't read it, I knew I broke the rules too much and had to dial it back a little bit.
